A Corner Of My New Living Room
Hello everyone!
Apologies in advance for the picture heavy post, but I'm very excited to share this corner of my new living room with you. I'm not quite ready to reveal the whole room yet, but I hope this corner gives you an idea of the pale, light and bright theme I'm going for!
After a quick google into the best white paint for walls, I discovered that most professional decorators use Dulux. So I went for their bog standard matt pure brilliant white, cheap as chips from B&Q in enormous plastic tubs. I was a little worried that it would have a cold, bluish tone, but I had to need to worry, as it's a lovely, soft white with good coverage. I spent the first few weeks of living here with it splattered through my hair, but it's been worth it, as it has really lightened and brightened the rooms I've used it in. I highly recommend it if you're using for a nice white paint which won't break the bank.
The floor is painted in Slipper Satin by Farrow & Ball, not quite as bargain-tastic as the Dulux paint, but worth it for the choice of colours you get. Slipper Satin is a gorgeous, soft off white, I've used it in my daughter's bedroom too. I've chosen a few of my car boot finds to display in the glazed dresser, and fairy lights add a magical touch.
I hope to share the completed room with you very soon!

Colourful Christmas
Happy Friday everyone!
I'm so looking forward to the Christmas break!! It's been such a busy few months, I can't wait to do some lounging around, catching up with all the blogs I follow and watching movies with the children.
I decided to decorate this corner of my living room with a pop of colour. I made the bauble chandelier from the frame of an old drum lampshade that was only fit for the bin, and the lowest tier is part of an embroidery hoop. The rusty container was from a car boot fair, I bought some hyacinth bulbs from the market to put in it. The spring green looks so beautiful next to the rustic texture of the bucket, and they will fill the room with a gorgeous scent as the flowers emerge.
I'll share some snaps with you of some more of my festive decorating with you over the weekend, have a fabulous Friday!

Little Christmas Tree
Hello everyone!
I hope you are all enjoying the run up to Christmas! As per every year, I am in a mild state of panic, and writing lots of lists. Organising the children's flurry of school activities is in itself a military operation - school Christmas lunch, writing cards and forgetting to put the names on the sealed envelopes, carol service for each of them, wear a festive hat for £1, party clothes in a named bag today, festive jumper tomorrow, is kung fu still happening after school, wrap the teacher's presents etc etc....my head is spinning from information overload. I'm looking forward to enjoying some of the simple pleasures in the next couple of weeks, because isn't that what it's all about really?
One part of the many festive pleasures for me is of course the decorating. As much as I adore a huge Christmas tree which takes up half the dining room, I do love to have some mini trees dotted around the house. I love them even more when they are placed in steely grey galvanised vintage buckets, or rusty containers such as the one above, a lucky car boot find. It's always fun to play around with textures, so in contrast to the rustic, solid feel of the bucket, I've decorated the tree with the shiniest, most delicate vintage silver bells. The cupboard they stand upon was £5 from a car boot fair many years ago, I painted it and added rusty cup handles. My little heart shaped baking tins added another shiny silver element to the whole display, simple yet beautiful. A little oasis of calm amongst the chaos!
Just a reminder that I recently made my Instagram account public, and you can find me here, so please do pop over a take a look, lots of vintage prettiness and pastel colours.

A Corner of my Living Room
Hello everyone!
I'm drying my hydrangea's for a little project I have coming up in the next few weeks (all will be revealed soon!). I liked the way this corner of my living was looking so I thought I'd take some snapshots to show you. It's a nice mix of calm colours and textures, simple and uncluttered. The little piece of green Lego on the floor under the sideboard kind of adds to the effect don't you think?! I spotted it once I'd uploaded the pictures and it made me smile, that stuff gets everywhere!
The abstract painting in the background is one I have done for The Rustic Rose, and will be going onto our website very soon - we love a statement abstract painting above a big piece of furniture.
I'm attempting some good old fashioned DIY today so it's scruffy jeans and jumper at the ready, and roast dinner later. I hope you all have a lovely, cosy Sunday whatever you are doing!

Beautiful Old Frames
Hello all!
I love a bit of decadence here and there in my home, whether it be a tinkling chandelier, or an old gilt frame. I don't care if they're not perfect, for me the chips and dinks add to their charm and history. A man at the car boot fair the other weekend had a small lorry, full of what appeared to be the contents of a lovely old house - dark Victorian paintings, antlers, old rugs and lots of these frames. I picked up these up along with a much larger frame, for £8. It does make me a little sad that somebody's once treasured belongings have ended up on a van being sold in a field on a Sunday morning - but at the same time I love giving these things, once so grand but now very worn round the edges, a new home, a new lease of life.
I have plans for these beauties, which I shall share with you one day!
