How To Make A Simple Photography Background

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd share this ridiculously simple photography tip with you today.  Sometimes, nothing beats a plain backdrop when photographing flowers, or a still life of vintage finds.  As you may have noticed, I lack bare surfaces in this house due to my love of 'stuff'!  So it is sometimes necessary to make do with a roll of lining paper, in this case pinned to my inspirations board.  Depending on where the light is best at that time of day, I move it around the house, using masking tape if necessary to stick it to the wall.  So simple but so effective.  I also sometimes use floral wallpaper in the same way to make a beautiful backdrop.  Lining paper is very cheap to buy from DIY stores, and also makes fab drawing paper - if the children are ever getting cabin fever on rainy days, I stretch it out over the table, give them some pens, pencils and paints, and let them get creative!

I've noticed over the last few weeks that lots of you lovely people in the States visit the blog, for which I want to say a big 'Thank You' and 'Hello!'  Please do leave a comment to say 'hi!' and let me know where you are from.  I'd also love to hear any ideas from any of you readers about what posts you would like to see from me this year - do get in touch!

Have a lovely weekend.

  2. I love your blog and especially the background for the name of it. Do you collect old rhinestone jewelry? If so, would love to see a blog about it - with pictures. I live in South Carolina

    1. Hello June! So glad you like this, it's very easy and means that even if you don't have tons of space, you can set up little vignettes and make them look really professional. Pipdig's templates are wonderful, enjoy!
