Styling The Seasons - May

Hello everyone, I hope you've had a lovely week!

I dragged myself out of bed super early last Sunday to go to a car boot fair, but it was so worth it for the vintage treasure!  Amongst other bits and bobs, I found this lovely old lamp which needs re-wiring, this beautiful gold Florentine tray, and in a move which may leave some of you saying 'What on earth was she thinking?!' this vintage Edouart Mandon print.  I've always had a soft spot for anything retro, bordering on kitsch, and whilst I'm sure most of my friends wouldn't touch this picture with a barge pole, the moment I saw it, I fell in love with it.  For a start, I love the sea and being at the beach - there's something so soothing about listening to waves crash against the shore, and this painting captures that in the most beautiful way.  It makes me so happy every time I look at it! (Tricky to photograph though without getting my big reflection in it!)

It was only when I got home that I realised I'd picked these three items and they all had a soft, golden, early summer glow to them.  Once I placed them together, they looked as if they were meant to be together.  I added a touch of blush pink (gold and blush pink = a luscious combination!) and one of my favourite Diptyque scented candles, a treat from Liberty on my London trip the other week (find it here - it's utterly divine!).

You can see lots of other beautiful and inspiring Styling The Seasons posts by heading over to Katy's blog Apartment Apothecary and Charlotte at Lotts and Lots, or by searching the hashtag #StylingTheSeasons on Instagram.  You can also join in on Instagram by styling a surface in your home according to what that month means to you (don't forget to use the hashtag!).

I'll be putting a post together over the weekend with a few snaps of my trip to London for the amazing Styling Spring At Mine event, so please do pop back!
