A New Start - A Post From The Heart

Hello everyone!

Welcome to 2014!  I hope you all had a lovely start to the New Year!

I'm taking a deep breath before writing this post - if you are a regular reader of this blog you will know that I do not tend to write about matters of the heart.  My passions and loves, yes, but not issues which go on behind closed doors.
To cut a very long story short, I have been married for ten years, and have two beautiful children.  My trust and heart was broken, and because of that we are parting ways.  The last 18 months have seen much sadness.  Fear not though, for I emerge from the whole sorry affair a stronger, more determined character.  In fact this blog was one of the outlets I chose to try and find a new path in life.
The house went on the market in the summer.  After a stressful six months of having a steady stream of people traipse round and two buyers in succession pull out at the eleventh hour, I am finally moving.  On Monday!!  Yes, I am surrounded by boxes, and it is mayhem here!
So, I am setting off on a new adventure, and I cannot wait to share it with you.  My new house is a project, a blank canvas in need of white paint, and much love.  It's a well sized Victorian terrace, and the current owner has not decorated for many years.  The first time I looked round though, I knew it had amazing potential, and I know it will be beautiful.  I'm going to be doing a lot of the work myself in true DIY style, with help from my wonderful friends and parents, who have given me so much incredible support, and the courage to turn something sad into a positive new start.  I can't thank them enough.
I will miss this house only a little; when you strip a place bare of its embellishments and once love no longer lives there, it is only an empty shell.  I'm so excited to make my new house a home, full of love, friends,
children's laughter, and of course, car boot treasure and vintage finds!
We will be wielding paint rollers and brushes next week in order to tackle the children's bedrooms first, so I look forward to sharing some pictures with you by the end of the week!

Have a lovely weekend!

  9. Oh my. In my case married 11, two gorgeous boys. Forced to file for divorce last Jan (and still not got it). Delighted you have managed to share such prettiness with us, when I know only to well what some of your days must have felt like. My house will go on the market soon. I am very sad to be leaving my amazing garden studio behind, but it will be a fresh start. I wish I was at the stage you were at now, with the fresh start, and blank canvas ready to go. One thing is for sure, you will make a beautiful and tranquil home, and as people keep reminding me - home is not the bricks and mortar, it's the space you create within it. Wishing you strength for the move, and for being strong for your kids, and wishing you all the best for the next chapter. x

    1. Hi Charlotte, thank you so much, I'm so sorry you're going through the same thing and I hope you are able to sell your house quickly. When it comes to moving day, do not look back - do not look round the rooms and start feeling sentimental - leave as quickly as you can. I had to try and be as heartless as I could when leaving, otherwise I knew I would wobble! Keep in touch, and let me know how it all goes xx

  12. Wow. What a move. I'll be watching with baited breath to see what the new house holds. We are buying what sounds like a similar house (needs a lot of paint and a bit of work) so i'll be keeping an eye on what you do.
Good luck with the move. x
