Craft Room Progress

Hello everyone!

I apologise for my absence for the last week, life and work took over, and I have missed blogging so much!  I've had a wonderful if slightly frantic time working behind the scenes on Norwich Fashion Week.  The week has consisted of four big fashion shows, which have required lots of organising and shepherding models, making sure they've had fittings, choreographing the shows, and then shooing them onto stage when the timing was right!  The week kicked off with the huge Retailers Show, followed by the Vintage Show, which was an intimate do in Norwich Puppet Theatre, with the most beautiful gowns and Marie Antoinette inspired hair and make up.   Next up was the Designers Show, which showcased fabulous designs from young local talent, and the grand finale was the Fashion Excess Show, which involved fantastic live bands and a much deserved cocktail to toast the week!

A couple of weeks ago, I started work on what is going to be mine and the children's craft room.  It's a lovely light room, at the back of the house on the ground floor.  Since I moved here, it has been used as a general dumping ground for boxes and furniture.  It has a door leading out onto the garden, and in the morning the sun streams in.  Like many of the other rooms in the house, it had the same old brown carpet and black mould creeping up the walls.  I suddenly decided that enough was enough, and that it had to be sorted!  After a morning of hauling boxes out, and pulling up the tatty, dusty carpet, I was able to roller some of my trusty Dulux paint on the walls, and make a home for my craft table in this corner.  I will make do with the shelves until my dad can help me put up a more practical (and pretty!) set of shelves.  I'm having the floorboards sanded next week, so I'm looking forward to sharing some more pictures with you of it's progress.
Another exciting development is that I've also started to gather prices for having some decking and a little bit of landscaping work in the garden.  The outside space is in a sorry state at the moment, but it has massive potential, and now that spring is here the garden is next on my target list!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I seem to be commenting on everything this morning, but I seemed to have missed several weeks of your marvellous blog, and it's always such a delight to go through it all! I love the idea that you have a family craft room, and it looks fabulous - you're working so hard at it all - well done! Hearing you mention Norwich fashion week reminds me of my old life in London, where I organised magazine fashion shoots and fashion shows for Julien Macdonald back in the day - all very frantic, but very exciting! xx
