Styling The Seasons/Styling Spring At Mine - April

Hello everyone, I hope you had a lovely weekend!

For this months Styling The Seasons post, I decided to get outside into the fresh air, and fling open the doors to the summer house now that spring is finally here!  I wanted to make a little reading nook for my daughter, somewhere where she can bury her head in one of her favourite books.  I also wanted to make her a little desk area to try and tempt her into doing her homework, something that she finds a bit of a challenge at the best of times!  I decided to gather some items that might inspire her, so I filled a vintage Kilner jar with seashells we found on trips to the beach.  I asked her what she would like to put in the other one, and she brought down her marble collection.  I found the copy of Little Women at a car boot fair recently.  I've bought a few of the beautifully designed Puffin Classics for her, which she has really enjoyed reading, with the added bonus that they look very pretty when lined up on a shelf!  My first ranunculus of the year came from my local market, one of my favourite spring blooms.

You can join in with Styling The Seasons by decorating any surface in your home, and posting a picture on Instagram using the hashtag.  This month is particularly exciting because Katy and Charlotte are running a competition, where a few winners can join them in London for a gorgeous floral workshop! (See more details on their blogs here and here).  There's not much time left so post before Wednesday using the hashtag #StylingSpringAtMine for a chance to take part - good luck!

In other news, the house is being photographed for a magazine at the end of this month, eek!  Cue lots of frantic decluttering and finishing various DIY jobs!

Have a wonderful week!

  1. Oh it looks beautiful Tamsyn! I would want to spend all my time there. Love the colours - and the Ranunculus - one of my very favourite flowers.

  2. Very sweet special spot for your daughter. I am sure she is going to spend many happy hours there reading and dreaming. Congratulations on having your home photographed - can't wait to read all about it.
